Thomas Szelpal is an audiovisual creator working across moving image, photography, sound, and editorial forms. With over a decade of international production experience, his work moves between documentary, narrative, and commercial contexts—translating ideas into images, systems, and stories.
His practice is shaped by an interest in how experience is framed: how identity, subculture, and everyday life are represented, mediated, and often smoothed over by institutional or ideological structures. He works across both applied and artistic contexts, bringing together production, strategy, and concept development.
Alongside his professional work, he integrates generative AI into creative development, prototyping, and production—both as a tool and as a subject within the work itself.
Thomas is currently completing an MA in Media Innovation, where his research focuses on conceptual digital projects that explore how limitation, friction, and reduction can reshape contemporary media experience.
